Estate Planning

Estate Planning (Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney)

Estate planning is about making sure your wishes are clearly documented and your family is protected. Without the right documents in place, decisions can become complicated, delayed, or left up to the Court.

Holly Lewis works with individuals and families in Westfield and throughout Western Massachusetts to create practical, straightforward plans. Her approach focuses on clarity, so you understand what each document does and how it fits into your overall plan.

What Estate Planning Covers

A Last Will and Testament is the foundation of most estate plans. It outlines how your assets should be distributed and who will be responsible for carrying out those instructions. Holly works with clients to make sure their Will is clear and complete, so there are no open questions later. Small details matter here, and getting them right upfront can prevent delays, confusion, or unnecessary stress for your family.

Trusts

Trusts are not necessary for everyone, but in the right situation, they can provide more control and flexibility than a Will alone. They can help manage how and when assets are distributed, and in some cases, make things easier for families to handle down the line.

Holly helps clients understand when a trust makes sense and when it doesn’t. The goal is not to overcomplicate things, but to put the right structure in place based on your specific circumstances.

Powers of Attorney and Health Care Planning

These documents allow someone you trust to step in if you are unable to make decisions yourself. A power of attorney covers financial matters, while health care documents allow someone to make medical decisions on your behalf, without Court involvement.

Without these in place, families are often left trying to navigate difficult situations without clear authority, or worse, subject to Court jurisdiction at the expense of your privacy. Holly works with clients to make sure the right people are named and that everything is set up in a way that avoids delays when decisions need to be made.
